what’s happening at the academy

As we now have our own borehole some drought problems have been alleviated. The added bonus too is that the water is pure and no filtering is required.
In addition as part of a rural electricity scheme, of which Imprezza is the solar source, we now have as much electricity as we need. The combination of both water and electricity opens up new possibilities for the school.

Conservation agriculture continues to thrive with outside teaching to the community whenever requested. Normally we are self sufficient in vegetables.  Our aim is of course to be totally self sufficient.
Currently,
outside teaching has been suspended due to Covid-19 regulations.

Progress has been thrown off course in the last two years due to droughts. It has proved the worth of conservation agriculture where our crops survived longer than those under conventional methods. It goes without saying we would have preferred to just have the theoretical knowledge rather than the practical. The livestock project continues to develop, although sadly we lost our rabbits to disease. However, they will be replaced when appropriate. We currently have laying hens, goats and sheep.
Our students continue to excel with national exams. This is thanks to their dedication and desire to learn, as well as the excellence of our school staff. For the majority of our students, education remains the only chance of escaping the grinding poverty of their daily lives.
Our main focus is to continue to develop the school. Whilst we have just about sufficient facilities for our current 320 students, it is insufficient for the new curriculum to be introduced in January 2024.
