May 2024 Floods appeal
TORRENTIAL RAINS HAVE AFFECTED NOT ONLY THE AREA AROUND THE SCHOOL BUT ACROSS LARGE PARTS OF THE COUNTRY. THESE RAINS HAVE RESULTED IN 100s BEING KILLED, THOUSANDS INJURED AND EVEN MORE MADE HOMELESS.
Snakes have infested flooded houses near us, something we have fortunately avoided. However, last Monday the school was invaded by poisonous centipedes and insects landing on skin causes serious inflammation. As a result we have had to send £500 to help deal with this , funds from our already overstretched resources.
Demand on our funds is always high including paying higher prices for food at a time when our own crops have failed, being totally destroyed by the rains. So any help would be gratefully appreciated to alleviate this desperate situation.
For the future we hope to future proof our crop growing programme with more resilient crops as well as the use of poly tunnels, wind breaks and nets to soften the rain falling on the crops. If you have any ideas or suggestions to help please do get in touch.
